The most important beat tape from my crew is still Steal Sound (2004). Manimal handed it out on cassette to a few folks and that was it. He didn’t talk about it before it came out, and he didn’t really talk much about it afterward. Finishing Steal Sound was an invitation to get to do more of what he loved—finding records and making beats.

Not saying this is Steal Sound-level work, but it’s with this influence and legacy I share LIKE WE CAN.

Honoring the past by loving what’s next. Growing, learning, and cycling that back into what we create. LIKE WE CAN is our ability to rep for what’s possible as artists and crew. When we “Just Make Stuff” (thank you BZ), share it, and keep going.

All beats* created with an Ensoniq EPS 16-Plus, Electro-Harmonix 45000, TAPCO 6001R, Moog MF Delay, Electro-Harmonix The Worm, and an Alesis SR-16 (aka Dr. Pizza)

*except track 2 on side A where my good bud Sweesh plays piano

I hope this 22 minute instrumental trip hypes you up to do more of what you love. The future is the raddest unknown, and all you need to do to get there is keep living.

Words from the crew…

Dear DFG,
Your taped activated a cosmic worm hole in my apartment. Do I go through it?

Bout to write a fucking rap to this DFG shit! Love it

Was listening to DFG last night doing dishes and for some reason I kept thinking about being in a Bladerunner scene with misty fog and diffused colored lights floating around me amidst huge skyscraper lines. Totally transformed my mentals for that moment in time. Thanks for that. It was almost time travel-esque. I say if they make another new one, shoot em’ a cassette. I’m sure PKD will agree.
